Everything we take on

Every job below is one we do ourselves across Roseville.

Deck Installation

We frame and build new decks from the footings up, sized and spaced for the loads you'll actually put on them. You pick the layout and the decking material, and we handle the permit drawings if your deck needs one.

Deck Repair

Soft or spongy boards, a wobbly railing, stairs that have started to pull away, we fix all of it. Most repair calls turn into a quick look at the framing underneath, since a rotted board is often a sign the joist under it has been sitting wet.

Deck Staining & Sealing

We pressure wash the boards, let them dry down, then apply a penetrating stain or sealer depending on the wood and how much sun your deck gets. Roseville summers are hard on exposed wood, and a deck that goes two or three years without a reseal usually shows it in cupped or silvering boards.

Custom Deck Design

If you want multiple levels, built-in benches, a pergola over part of the deck, or stairs on two sides, we draw it out before we cut anything. We size the beams and footings to the actual design instead of a standard span table.

Composite Deck Installation

Composite boards like Trex or TimberTech don't need staining and won't splinter or rot, which matters if you don't want a yearly maintenance job. The framing underneath still matters just as much, composite just moves the maintenance cost from the surface to doing the structure right the first time.

Deck Framing & Structural Repair

This is the part under the boards, the joists, beams, posts and footings that actually hold the deck up. If your ledger board has pulled away from the house, a post base has rotted out, or the whole deck has started to feel springy, this is the fix, and it usually has to happen before any surface work.

Deck Railing Installation & Repair

We build and repair railings to current guard rail height and baluster spacing, which matters more than people think once kids or a dog are running around up there. A loose top rail is almost always a sign the posts weren't bolted into the framing in the first place.

Deck Resurfacing & Board Replacement

If the frame underneath is still solid, we can strip off the old decking and replace just the boards, which costs a lot less than tearing the whole thing out. We'll tell you honestly if the framing's not worth building on top of before we quote this one.

Deck Demolition & Removal

Old decks get hauled off board by board, nails and all, including any concrete footings you want gone. We check first whether the framing can be reused, since there's no reason to pay to demo something that's still structurally sound.

Pergolas & Deck Covers

We build pergolas and shade structures attached to or built into a deck, so you get a spot out of the direct sun without screening in the whole thing. These tie into the same posts and beams as the deck below, so they need to be planned for load at the same time, not bolted on after the fact.

How It Works

Four steps, and no surprises in any of them.

01

We come and look

You tell us what you want doing, we look at what is actually there, and we ask the awkward questions early.

02

You get a price

In writing, itemised, free. If something might add cost later we flag it now rather than at the end.

03

We do the work

Same crew throughout. We cover your floors, keep the dust down and tidy up before we leave each day.

04

We walk it with you

You point out anything you are not happy with and we fix it before the invoice, not after.

Common Questions

Things worth asking

Questions that come up once a deck project is underway.

Do I need a permit to build a deck?
Most attached decks over 30 inches off the ground need a building permit in California, and decks tied into the house structure usually require one regardless of height. Local building departments vary on freestanding, lower decks, so it's worth checking before design work starts.
How long does it take to build a deck?
A standard single-level deck usually takes one to two weeks from the first dug footing to the final board, weather and permit timing aside. Multi-level decks, built-in features or composite decking with hidden fasteners add time to that estimate.
Can you work within a set budget?
The design and material choice can be adjusted to hit a target budget, usually by changing decking material, square footage or railing style rather than cutting corners on the framing. Framing and footings are the part that shouldn't get scaled back, since that's what the deck stands on.
Do you guarantee the work?
Workmanship is covered for a set period after completion, spelled out in writing in the quote before the job starts. Material warranties, especially on composite decking, come separately from the manufacturer and are usually longer than the workmanship guarantee.
Who do I talk to during the project?
One point of contact handles scheduling, change requests and questions for the whole job, rather than passing the homeowner between an office and a crew lead. That contact is reachable by phone through the duration of the project.
What decking materials do you use?
Pressure-treated pine, cedar, redwood and composite brands like Trex and TimberTech are all options, each with different cost, maintenance and lifespan. Framing lumber is pressure-treated regardless of the decking material on top, since that's the part exposed to ground moisture.
Can I stay in my house while the deck is being built?
Deck construction doesn't require vacating the house since the work happens outside and doesn't touch plumbing or electrical inside. Expect noise from saws and nail guns during work hours and limited yard access near the build area.
Do I need to do anything to prepare the site before work starts?
Clearing furniture, grills and potted plants off the existing deck or the build area makes the first day go faster. Overhanging tree branches near the work zone and gate access for hauling lumber in and debris out are worth checking ahead of time too.
What happens if you find a problem once the old deck is torn off?
Rotted ledger boards, undersized old footings or termite damage in the rim joist turn up sometimes once the surface decking comes off. The fix gets explained along with a revised cost before any additional work starts, not after.
How do I take care of a new deck once it's built?
Wood decks need a wash and a fresh coat of sealer roughly every two to three years depending on sun exposure, more often on a deck with full afternoon sun. Composite decking just needs a hose-down and occasional soap scrub to keep algae off, with no staining required.
